Mr J.P Singh hails from a small village of Bulandshahr district. He came to Delhi empty handed with neither great aspirations nor a clear roadmap. Unlike the dramatic tales of people chasing dreams at that time, all he hoped for was some work and a chance to experience a new world of Delhi city.
In the early days of his career, he took up odd jobs like painting boards and banners. With no formal art education, he relied on years of self-practice, raw talent, and an undying spirit to express himself through colours. A quiet, introverted young man who was often full of silent rage found refuge in painting.
His life continued with these small jobs for years. He gifted one of his artworks to his would-be wife, leaving a lasting impression on her family. With her support, he later secured a government job at Rashtrapati Bhavan as a painter, while continuing to create late into the night.
Over 25–30 years, he participated in exhibitions and sold works to support his family. Today, with his children well-settled, he begins his second innings — not for survival, but for the pure joy of creation.
During his 25-year tenure at Rashtrapati Bhavan, he contributed to contemporary art exhibitions and was honoured twice by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He also hand-crafted invitations (Bhojpatra) for visiting dignitaries, including President Barack Obama, and served under six Presidents of India.
This second innings begins with the birth of Chaakor, a creative brand showcasing his legacy, hard work, and artistic brilliance — born from a family collaboration across continents.
Occasional updates on new works and shows.
